     Donald Miller Snook married Mary Ellen Brandenburg. He was born on 6 September 1937. He died on 13 June 2011 at age 73; SEPT. 6, 1937-JUNE 13, 2011

Donald M. “Duck” Snook, 73, of Bradbury Avenue, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1937, in Halfway, Md., he was the son of the late Luther S. and Nellie C. (Miller) Snook.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1955.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a professional truck driver for 58 years, spending 46 of those years hauling and delivering concrete block. He retired in 2005 from York Building Products in Frederick, Md. Since retirement, he has driven dump trucks for Sam’s Excavating and also worked part time for the mobile storage division of AC&T. He has taught many people over the years how to drive trucks.

He was a life member of AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown, life member of Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co., life member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Studebaker National Museum of South Bend, Ind.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ellen (Brandenburg) Snook, whom he married Oct. 17, 1963; the son he never had, Samuel M. Keister of Greencastle, Pa; one sister, Helen V. Doub; one brother, William R. Snook and wife, Catherine; sisters-in-law, Mary Snook, Esther Snook and Anna Snook; and many nieces, nephews, great-niece, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He will be greatly missed by his pet dog, Ellie.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert H. Snook and Martin L. “Marty” Snook.

Services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with Pastor Travis Neumann officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa., with full military honors given by AMVETS Post 10 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the convenience of the public.
